Studio Dress Code
At Elevé Academy, our dress code is designed to promote safety, proper technique, and a professional learning environment. Wearing the appropriate attire allows instructors to clearly see each dancer’s alignment, posture, and movement, helping students develop healthy dance habits while reducing the risk of injury.
Acro
- Fitted dancewear
- Bare feet
- Hair securely pulled up
- No long ponytails. Buns or braids are recommended for safety.
Ballet & Technique
- Leotard and tights
- Dance shorts or ballet skirts are permitted
- Split-sole ballet shoes
- Hair secured in a neat ballet bun
Contemporary
- Fitted dancewear
- Dance socks or bare feet
- Hair pulled up and secured
Hip Hop
- Comfortable activewear
- Clean, non-marking sneakers designated for studio use
Jazz
- Fitted dancewear
- Tan jazz shoes
- Hair pulled up and secured
Lyrical
- Fitted dancewear
- Ballet shoes or half soles
- Hair pulled up and secured
Musical Theater
- Fitted dancewear
- Tan jazz shoes or character shoes
- Hair pulled up and secured
Preschool & Kinder Classes
- Leotard and tights are preferred but we know that sometimes that is not a battle worth fighting for our youngest dancers. As long as they’re in clothes that they can safely dance in, they’ll be permitted in class.
- Skirts and tutus are welcome
- Pink ballet shoes
- Tan jazz shoes
- Black tap shoes
- Hair pulled up and secured
Tap
- Activewear
- Black tap shoes
- Hair pulled up and secured
General Dress Code Guidelines
- Hoodies and oversized or baggy T-shirts are permitted only in Hip Hop and Tap classes.
- Dance warm-up attire may be worn at the beginning of class and should be removed once dancers are sufficiently warmed up.
- Jewelry should be kept to a minimum. Small stud earrings are recommended. Necklaces, bracelets, watches, and large earrings should not be worn in class for safety.
- Shoes worn outside should never be worn on the dance floors. Please bring your dance shoes to the studio and change into them before class.
- All dancewear and shoes should fit properly and be in good condition.
